Legal Ops Career – Careering Ahead Webinar Series

Our Legal Ops Career brand concentrates on the legal operations career and its multiple facets. Since the start of the year it has organised one webinar per month as part of its ‘Careering Ahead Series’ of webinars, which is directed towards legal operations professionals (or those that aspire to be one). For those that have yet to see them here is a summary of each one:

1. When is the right time to become a legal ops consultant?

In this first webinar, Marc May (Founder of Legal Ops Career) is joined by Lucy Power (Melius), Tom Fleuriot (Flocsam) and Rob Lankester (RLegal Engineering). We discussed:

– the panellists’ journey into legal ops consultancy

– when is the right time to become a legal ops consultant

– when are the right circumstances to start your own consultancy

– lessons learnt along the way!

2. What is mentoring and how can it help me?

This is the second webinar focuses on mentoring and takes a look at (a) what it is, (b) what the Legal Ops Career mentoring programme looks like, and (c) a brief panel discussion with a current Mentor and Mentee. Marco Mendola and Jasmine Yu provide their insights on being a mentor and mentee respectively.

3. What does the Legal Operations Manager role look like?

In the third instalment of the series we take a look at roles within legal operations. This session takes a look at the Legal Operations Manager role – focusing on the panellists’ journey into legal ops, what they enjoy about it, skills required, and biggest challenges. The panel includes Sarah Owens (Legal Operations Lead at Barratt Developments), Charles Stanley (Senior Legal Operations Manager at Vinted) and Francesco Della Rotonda (Legal Operations Manager at Simmons & Simmons). Moderated by Marc May (Founder, Legal Technologist and Legal Ops Career).

4. What skills do you need to work in legal ops and where do you get them?

In this fourth instalment of the Careering Ahead series we take a look at what skills are needed to work in legal ops and how you can acquire them. This session was moderated by Marc May (Founder, The Legal Technologist and Legal Ops Career) and featured the following panel members: Piia Madissoo (Legal Operations and Transform Lead – EY), Kasper Riis Hansen (Head of Legal Operations – Arla Foods) and (Tomasz Krzyzewski – Coca Cola HBC).
