Interview with Sanjeeta Patel, Marketing Director, LexisNexis UK

In a continuation of our mini-series taking a look at the different facets of the Lexis AI+ journey, we spoke with Sanjeeta Patel, Marketing Director at LexisNexis UK about her role, her thoughts on generative AI and where she sees the most growth.

Tell me a little about your role at LexisNexis

I’m Marketing Director for LexisNexis UK and I have the privilege of telling the story of how our combination of trusted content and leading technology is helping transform the way lawyers work. My team’s role is to connect the innovation happening inside LexisNexis, including Lexis+ AI and Protégé, to the real-world needs of lawyers in practice, especially the day-to-day workflows of researching, drafting and checking.

Right now, the pressure on firms is intense. They’re caught between major forces: generative AI, the war for talent, new client expectations, and the need to prove real differentiation. Our role is to help them navigate that landscape, work more efficiently, manage risk and provide trusted guidance within secure systems. We make sure our message always comes back to purpose. We’re helping legal professionals work smarter, deliver greater value for clients, and build confidence in using AI responsibly.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Honestly, it’s the pace and the purpose, knowing our work has a wider impact on the Rule of Law. I love being at the crossroads between technology, people and change. The legal industry is in the middle of an extraordinary transformation. We’re not just observing it, we’re helping shape it. It’s an exciting place to be.

The legal world is known for being careful and slow to change, and that’s a strength, but things are changing faster than ever. It’s fascinating to be part of it. I also love working with such a passionate team. Across the business, everyone’s driven by pride in helping our customers do their best work more efficiently and with more confidence. I really value the collaboration too, both internally and with customers.

In early November we held a customer webinar where two firms using Lexis+ AI shared how it’s helping them save time and giving them more confidence in the work they’re producing. Hearing that directly is incredibly rewarding.

“The legal industry is in the middle of an extraordinary transformation. We’re not just observing it, we’re helping shape it.”

Do you think every lawyer should be using generative AI now?

I’d say every lawyer should be exploring it, both professionally and personally. This is the beginning of the new normal.

The legal market’s moved quickly, faster than many expected. Our AI Culture Clash survey in September 25. found adoption jumped from 11% to 61% in just two years, and now only 6% of lawyers say they have no plans to use AI.

That’s a complete turnaround. We’ve gone from hesitation to conviction in a very short space of time.

But I get it, there’s still a learning curve whether it’s sharpening your prompting skills, or just starting out. Lawyers want to be sure the tools they use are accurate, secure, and aligned with the way they work. Investing in this is essential.

That’s why Lexis+ AI focuses on trust, transparency and ease of use. You can see exactly where an answer comes from, and check the underlying sources seamlessly. It’s built to enhance, not replace the work lawyers do. To anyone who is sceptical I’d say give it a go, you need to try it to see what it really can do. The technology keeps improving so your first experience may be different today.

“Our AI Culture Clash survey in September 25 found [AI] adoption jumped from 11% to 61% in just two years”

Where are you seeing the most growth with Lexis+ AI?

We’re seeing strong momentum in firms moving beyond pilots and embedding AI in day-to-day work – the firms that are treating AI as part of the workflow, not a side experiment, are the ones seeing real impact, and using it as the default way to move from task to task in one place. It’s the second pair of eyes, the personal assistant lawyers always wanted.

The Vault is one of the most talked-about features. It lets firms store and query their own documents, summarise or extract key points, and build from their own knowledge base. It’s practical and grounded innovation. It means firms can bring their own knowledge into the same workflow alongside trusted LexisNexis content, rather than treating it like something separate.

What’s the feedback been like from customers so far?

It’s been amazing and humbling. We’re hearing comments like, “I didn’t realise how much time this could save me” or “It’s changed how I start my day.” One customer told us it’s taken away the constant worry of “Have I done that right” and the peace of mind it can bring to check their work.

We ran an in-product survey with nearly 2,000 users, and asked one simple question: “Does Lexis+ AI save you time?” Over 1,800 people responded in a week, and 87% said yes. When we asked how much faster they were, seven out of ten said by 50% or more. Private practice customers are telling us they’re using this time to either generate more billable work or make space for other priorities.

That’s huge validation, but it also tells us something important about workflow. The appetite for adoption is there. Lawyers are busy, cautious by nature, and still finding their rhythm with AI. But when you make a tool simple, secure and genuinely useful, adoption follows naturally.

And what’s next for Lexis+ AI?

2026 will be another exciting year. We’ve announced Protégé General AI, which is the next evolution of Lexis+ AI. It’ll bring General AI models inside the secure LexisNexis environment so you can move seamlessly between legal and non-legal work: drafting, summarising, creating, and checking, all in one place. Protégé is what ties that together into a single workflow, so you can go from first draft to citation-backed legal checking without losing momentum.

What’s exciting is how it keeps the whole journey connected in one ecosystem, from early thinking and drafting through to the final legal check. It’s designed to help you keep moving from first draft energy to final legal confidence. You can summarise a meeting, refine a proposal, record a quick voice note and get an instant summary, then check every legal point with Legal AI. All within a secure environment.

And I’m sure this is just one of many more enhancements we’ll continue to make.

The pace of change is fast and it’s understandable if it feels daunting. But we’re seeing a real shift in confidence. Lawyers are embracing AI not because they have to, but because they’ve seen what it enables. Our job at LexisNexis is to make that journey easier, safer and more rewarding. We’re helping the profession take this leap without losing what makes it special.
